To fix a kitchen sink leaking, you will need to disassemble the faucet to get on the valve stem, which is where most leaks occur. When repairing or replacing the stem any worn parts, you must drain stopped at any time. Close the water supply to the kitchen sink leaking. Look under the sink to locate the water supply valves. Move anything under the sink that could be on the way to finding the valves. Turn the valve clockwise to shut the water. Open the sink and let water run out inside.

Remove the faucet handles. Keys kitchen faucet is held in place with screws. These screws are one of three locations: the front of the handle, the back of the handle or below the temperature indicator at the top of the handle. Removing one screw in the front or back is simply a matter of loosening the screw.

Remove the nut. Loosen the faucet stem. Inspect the valve stem. Check the rubber grommet at the bottom of the key. Replace the packaging kitchen sink leaking. This is the plastic or graphite packed around the shaft that helps seal the valve and prevents leakage. Slide the new packing material around the stem.
